MAX

Max

A sad touching love story contributed by one of our readers. Many times our relationship gets tested and we meet someone whom we thought could have been. Our feelings consume us and it becomes such a difficult situation to get out of. Read this sad short love story to see if you can understand how this reader feels. If you like to contribute your sad love story, please contact me here.

I was in 8th grade when I met him.  Well, I didn't actually meet him. But it was quite a funny introduction, he had just moved to my city from California. And it was towards the end of the year, my best friend and I were walking back to class from lunch and we were talking about the new kid we'd heard about all day when we turn the corner and there's this boy pretending to be a dinosaur. I don't know if you could even call it that, but he saying "Rawr, rawr, I'm a dinosaur." So one could only draw a few assumptions. And then it dawned on me that I didn't know who this kid was, and so it had to have been the new kid. It was kind of an awkward moment, the new guy meeting a couple girls in a weird and embarrassing way. But it didn't seem to phase him, he just looked at us and winked. That was just the way he was, it seemed like nothing ever phased him. I remember walking away laughing and my best friend saying something about him being weird. I remember looking back and watched him watch us walk away. I remember being embarrassed that he caught me looking back at him as he watched us. I asked her what his name was and she told me. Max.
So the year ends and I can't remember ever talking to him after that. But I don't really think about him, I've got other things on my mind. First year of high school, volleyball team, football boys, all that stuff. So the new year starts and I walk into art class and realize I don't know anybody. I scan the room and then I meet eyes with him. Max. It's one of those awkward moments when you don't really know anybody else in the class, and you meet eyes with someone you kinda remember only seeing a few times before. You know, acknowledging the fact that you guys both know each other, vaguely, but you have no choice but to become aquainted and quick bc you don't know anybody else really. I survey the rest of the room and walk toward him and his friend and ask him if I could sit with them. He says, yes and pulled the stool out. He reaches his hand out and waits for mine. I must've looked at him like he grew two heads bc he starts to laugh and says that he hadn't quite made the first impression he was going for when he first met me and would like to have another go at it. I stare at his hand for a little bit and then I shake it.
"I'm-" I start as his big hand encompasses mine.
"I know who you are," he finishes for me with an easy smile, that I would later miss.
The moment passes and we became friends. We sat by each other everyday after that, it was just the way it was. He became my best friend, he was there when I needed someone to talk to. Winter break came and went and when school started up again we ended up having majority of our classes together. I remember being anxious to hurry up and just get to the classes we had together. I remember people thinking that we were dating, but we just laughed it off. One time in class Max and I were talking and laughing, and then he left to get something, I think paint. His friend looked at me and leaned over and said "That boy is sprung on you." And I looked at him and laughed, and told him that was just not the way our relationship was and I didn't think anything of it after that.
Then the Winter Formal came around, and the whole night was a mess. My original date went out of town, my new date spilled punch down my dress and then I found him making out with another girl, just my luck. I remember being super pissed off that the night was a complete bust. So I walk into the gym and sat down on the benches, I look over and realize that I'm sitting next to Max's brother and I start talking to him. He was a couple years older than us, and I remember seeing him around, but never really engaging in conversation with him, but we kind of hit it off. I don't think much came after that, but some how I started talking to him more than Max. And soon enough we were dating. My friendship with Max kind of went AWOL, and soon we just stopped talking all together. I remember thinking that I was making a mistake, but Max never said anything to me. If anything he encouraged it.
I didn't put two and two together, I thought we would still be friends. Hell, I thought we would've been even better friends. How stupid could I have been? Max's brother was graduating that year. After he left I was constantly getting hit on since my boyfriend was out of high school. And so me and Max started talking again, and he sort of became my body guard. Nobody talked to me when he was around, and I was okay with that bc I had my best friend back and I didn't want to talk to anybody else except him. He made me a coat rack in metal shop for my birthday. When we talked, it was like we could talk about anything. And we did, we talked about the kind of girl he wanted to be with, we talked about my relationship with his brother, we talked about where we want to be, we talked about life and we talked about the future. If felt good to have him back in my life.
As time went on things with my boyfriend started getting difficult, I started having problems with my best friend and I turned to Max. And he was there for me. I started getting confused, I was bombarded with all these new feelings I felt like I never knew before. But somewhere deep down I knew that they were always there, I just never acknowledged them. I knew that Max had felt the same things for me, although neither of us pointed it out, I knew we both felt it. We were two people who had been put together, but couldn't be together due to moral principles. I felt torn, I loved my boyfriend but I felt like I loved Max too. Somehow, my boyfriend found out about Max and me and things just blew up from there. Some how I felt like a was being ran over by a freight train. I was only 16 and I felt like I had to choose between my best friend and my boyfriend. I felt like I had put myself in a rock and a hard place. Either way I would lose. Either way I would hurt. And I did not want to choose.
In the end, I wasn't strong enough to make a choice and Max made it for us. He wrote me a letter, and had someone else give it to me. In it he told me that he had fallen in love with me and that he had always loved me. But he just couldn't be around me anymore bc he felt like it would only make things harder. He said that he loved me, but he loved his brother too. And that he knew that his brother loved me. He said that he'd sarcrifice everything he's ever wanted so that we could move forward. It said a lot of other stuff, but I can't remember what else. But he must've known how I would react bc his last sentence said "Please don't make this harder than it already is."
I don't remember much after that, I think I blocked it out of my memories. I'm pretty sure I broke down and cried in the middle of class after reading it. I felt like my heart was literally breaking in two. I kept the letters we wrote back and forth to each other for a while, but I think I just chose to lose them. After that we pretty much avoided each other all together, and I'd only see him when I was with my boyfriend or by accident in the hall. I don't think he ever found out that Max knew, and I sure never told him about the letter he wrote me. I remember catching him watching me in the hallway or the cafeteria and our eyes would meet and then shift away. I waited until he showed up, just to watch him and to just see him and know that he's okay. The year after that, he dropped out of school and started drinking and smoking.
I'm still with my boyfriend (his brother), and it's been about 4 years since it happened. And not a day goes by where I don't think about him or I don't miss him. I heard he's with a girl 5 yrs younger than him, and from what I hear she's nothing like the girl he told me he wanted to be with. A few years ago, someone told me that it was my fault that he was the way he is now. That he started smoking and drinking to stop thinking about me. It's hard for me accept that bc he made the decision and he chose to stick to it. And now when I do see him on rare occasion, it's kind of filled with awkward silences. It breaks my heart at how distant we are from each other now. I hate that he's not a part of my life as he once was. I miss him so much, my heart hurts just thinking about it. It breaks my heart seeing him where he is now, seeing him so far from where he wanted to be and not being able to talk to him about it.
I guess love just wasn't enough to save us both. There are so many things wrong with this I don't know where to begin. Don't get me wrong, I love my boyfriend with all my heart and to the very core of my being. But I miss my best friend.

heheh alamat

How to run a spellcheck..

Use the built-in Word 2007 spell checker after you create a document to proof it for typos, spelling errors, and repeated words. Then decide on a word-by-word case — or globally — whether you want Word 2007 to make spelling corrections.
  1. On the Review tab, click the Spelling & Grammar button.
    image0.jpg
The Spelling and Grammar dialog box opens and takes you to the first item that Word 2007 thinks is misspelled.
  2. Tell Word 2007 how to treat each item it finds misspelled.
    image1.jpg
    Choose from these actions:
    • Ignore Once: Click this button to tell Word 2007 that this entry is fine.
    • Ignore All: Click this button to tell Word 2007 that every same spelling of this word is fine.
    • Add to Dictionary: Click this button to have Word 2007 add the word to its internal dictionary.
    • Change: First choose (click) a word from the Suggestions panel at the bottom of the dialog box. Then click this button to have Word 2007 insert the corrected word.
    • Change All: This works like Change but changes every instance of the misspelling in the document. You must choose a spelling from the Suggestions panel.
    • AutoCorrect: Clicking this button tells Word 2007 to insert the top-ranked word listed in the Suggestions panel.
  3. Click Close to exit the dialog box.
Click the Change All button of the spell checker only if you’re completely positive that you want a global spelling change made. Otherwise, you run the risk of introducing more spelling errors.

“Sometimes, it’s good to show that I’m stupid, I’ m irresponsible, I’ m pathetic, cruel and boring to be with. So that I will know who will still stand by me; and for me to find out that who are just using me.”
“A heart break is always a blessing from God…
It maybe the very worst nightmare that leaves you crying in the middle of the night, but it’s just His way of letting you to realize that He save you from the wrong one…”
“You’re the one who made the heaven.
You’re the one who shaped the earth.
You’re the one who formed my heart long before my birth.
I believe you always lead me.
All my days you have my faith.
All you’re thoughts told me I’m holy, full of love and grace.
You are the one. You are Holy.
You are worthy.
You are the one everlasting…
LORD, you are the one.”
“Sometimes it’s better to be clueless about what’s happening around you; rather than knowing every bit of information that silently kills you.”

Spyware

Spyware is such a broad term that even the definition of this computer scourge is fuzzy. So what is spyware? The best definition out there is given by Wikipedia:

“Spyware is a broad category of malicious software intended to intercept or take partial control of a computer`s operation without the user’s informed consent.”
Thus, spyware has come to mean, not only the “software that spies on you”, but also the software that performs other kinds of abuses and annoyances, outside the traditional virus-and- worm world. For example, displaying unwanted ads is a primary purpose of “adware”, which is often categorized as a type of spyware. In fact, some people even extend the definition to cover browser cookies, relatively innocuous pieces of text used by websites for user tracking.

One angle missed by the above definition is that while some folks are known to launch viruses and worms, two well-known types of computer nasties, “Just for fun”, spyware is usually written for somebody`s direct monetary benefit, often in the form of good old cash. This aspect`s is one of the keys to the dramatic rise of spyware.

Spyware emerged in recent years to “entertain” computer users. This emergence coincided with a sea change in the world of mainstream computer attackers that shifted their focus from having fun at somebody else’s expense to making money at somebody else’s expense. Spyware , along with spam, phishing (“social engineering” attacks via email intent on stealing credentials), and pharming (DNS attacks aimed at attracting users to malicious websites), is one of the most noticeable computer threats of the day. We did say “noticeable” although spyware is often is often engineered to be hard to find, hard notice, hard to pay attention to(that is, hidden in a lengthy license) and obviously hard to remove. Spyware evolved in the same time frame as e-commence and online banking. As business use of the internet was growing up, so was business abuse.

Love Quotes

Welcome to "Love Quotes" where we have thousands of Quotes & Poems that speak only of love and Quotes about Love

What is Love?

Our favorite description of love is from the movie Captain Corelli's Mandolin:
When you fall in love, it is a temporary madness. It erupts like an earthquake, and then it subsides. And when it subsides, you have to make a decision. You have to work out whether your roots are become so entwined together that it is inconceivable that you should ever part. Because this is what love is. Love is not breathlessness, it is not excitement, it is not the desire to mate every second of the day. It is not lying awake at night imagining that he is kissing every part of your body. No... don't blush. I am telling you some truths. For that is just being in love; which any of us can convince ourselves we are. Love itself is what is left over, when being in love has burned away... (Iannis to Pelagia) Note: there are two versions of this quote, one from the book and a slightly different version from the movie.

Introduction to the Archaean

3.8 to 2.5 billion years ago

If you were able to travel back to visit the Earth during the Archaean, you would likely not recognize it is the same planet we inhabit today. The atmosphere was very different from what we breathe today; at that time, it was likely a reducing atmosphere of methane, ammonia, and other gases which would be toxic to most life on our planet today. Also during this time, the Earth's crust cooled enough that rocks and continental plates began to form.
It was early in the Archaean that life first appeared on Earth. Our oldest fossils date to roughly 3.5 billion years ago, and consist of bacteria microfossils. In fact, all life during the more than one billion years of the Archaean was bacterial. At right is an artist's depiction of what an Archaean coast might have looked like 3.5 billion years ago. The mounds in the foreground are stromatolites, colonies of photosynthetic bacteria which have been found as fossils in Early Archaean rocks of South Africa and Western Australia. Stromatolites increased in abundance throughout the Archaean, but began to decline during the Proterozoic. They are not common today.

Subdivisions of the
Archaean:
The chart at left shows the three major subdivisions of the Archaean. These divisions are somewhat arbitrary, and we have not attempted to prepare exhibits on each of them. Dates and divisions follow those of Schopf (1983).
The Archaean occurs between the Hadean and the Proterozoic.

Read about Tectospheric keels and plate accretion of the Archaean and Proterozoic, as studied by Paul Stoddard at Northern Illinois University.

geologic time scale

The Geologic Time Scale

The study of the Earth from the beginning of time to the present has been the task of geologists who attempt to unravel the events that have shaped our planet as it is today. The Earth carries the history of geological events in its rock layers. It follows that the oldest layers are at the bottom and the youngest are at the top. With this understanding geologists are able to determine the ages of rock relative to one another. By assembling all these layers together, scientists have worked out what is known as the stratigraphic column or record of the various ages of rock. This record spans the 4.6 billion year record of Earth's history. In order to simplify the huge amount of geological information, geologists have broken Earth's history down into sections which are called geological eras, periods, and epochs. Fossils records have shown that life existed for about 3,800 million years, but complex life emerged only about 600 million years. Over time, life forms change. Their fossil record allows geologists to date and compare rocks across geological time. For example, dinosaur fossils are only found during the Mesozoic era some 245 to 65 million years ago.
The following table shows the geologic time scale.

The Mesozoic Era

The Challenges Of Life On Land

The Mesozoic Era begins where the upheavals of the Permian Extinctions end. A mass extinction at the end of the Permian Period had eliminated most of the species of life that had existed throughout the Paleozoic Era. The Continents
Toward the end of the Paleozoic Era the land that would become Europe and Asia slammed into North America. By the time of the Mesozoic Era Pangea the super continent had formed. It was roughly the shape of a “C”. The huge land mass protected the Tethys Ocean which lay across tropical latitudes. Pangea and the Tethys were ringed by the Panthalassic Ocean.
Climate During The Mesozoic
The temperatures, both on land and in the ocean, were much higher than during the Paleozoic, and climates were more tropical in nature. Despite this, the seas were lower, leaving different types of land masses for life to deal with. Over all the Mesozoic Era was dryer than in the Paleozoic Era. There were more deserts and less marshland.
Within the three periods of the Mesozoic Era ( Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous) there were times of wide temperature and seasonal variation. Mesozoic Era dinosaur
Life Recovers From The Permian Extinctions
It took most of the first and second periods of the Mesozoic, the Triassic and the Jurassic periods, for the diversity of species to recover and achieve some balance. While plant species had survived somewhat better than animals over the Permian Extinction, new types of plants developed to survive the changing conditions.
The warmer drier conditions of the Mesozoic required new reproductive methods in plants. Ferns and gymnosperms developed. Their reproductive methods allowed for good protection of the spores or seeds that would have to get through periods of drought before growing into the infant plant.
Marine LifeThe survivors of the Permian Extinction had very little competition. Corals, mollusks and fish dominated the life in the oceans. Some Reptiles took to the water to become the first air breathing hunters in the oceans. They took on a variety of forms and rose to the top of the food chain.
The Rise of The Reptiles and Dinosaurs
The dominant land animals at the end of the Permian Period were the Synapsids. This group of animals is characterized by having a single hole on each side of the skull behind the eye. They are sometimes called mammal like reptiles. This group nearly became extinct at the close of the Permian Period.
The animals that developed in the Mesozoic needed new body types to survive the extremes of temperature and moisture. Amphibians developed respiratory mechanisms that allowed them to live in or out of the water for extended periods of time. But it was the reptiles that were better adapted to the warmer dryer conditions. They developed thick, leathery skin on both their own bodies and their eggs. The reptiles thrived, dominating the landscape in both size and numbers. They are known as diapsids. Diapsids are characterized by having two openings on each side of the skull behind the eyes.
The dinosaurs evolved from these reptiles and were themselves diapsids. During the Jurassic and Cretaceous Periods the dinosaurs ruled the earth.

Both plants and animals reached giant proportions during the Mesozoic. The Mesozoic Era ended with a mass extinction due to an asteroid or meteroid. During the 180 million years of the Era, reptiles lived on land, in seas, and in the air. Small mammals, although not significant during the time, did exist during this era.
Mass Extinction Ends The Mesozoic Era
Another mass extinction occurred at the end of the Cretaceous Period, bringing an end to the dinosaurs and the tropical forests. This extinction, while not as broad and devastating as that at the end of the Permian, had the effect of eliminating a way of life that has not been replicated.
Most researchers agree that the Mesozoic Era ended at least in part due to the impact of an asteroid.

Preceeding the Mesozoic Era is the Paleozoic Era

After the Mesozoic Era is the Cenozoic Era

cenozoic era

he Cenozoic Era (play /ˌsɛnəˈz.ɨk/ or /ˌsnəˈz.ɨk/; also Cænozoic or Cainozoic; meaning "new life", from Greek καινός kainos "new", and ζωή zoe "life") is the current and most recent of the three Phanerozoic geological eras and covers the period from 65.5 mya to the present. It is marked by the Cretaceous–Tertiary extinction event at the end of the Cretaceous that saw the demise of the last non-avian dinosaurs and the end of the Mesozoic Era. The Cenozoic Era is ongoing.

[edit] Subdivision

The Cenozoic is divided into three periods, the Neogene, Paleogene and Quaternary.[4] The Quaternary was officially recognized by the International Commission on Stratigraphy in June 2009.[5]

[edit] Tectonics

Geologically, the Cenozoic is the era when the continents moved into their current positions. Australia-New Guinea, having split from Gondwana during the early Cretaceous, drifted north and, eventually, collided with South-east Asia; Antarctica moved into its current position over the South Pole; the Atlantic Ocean widened and, later in the era, South America became attached to North America.
India collided with Asia between 55 and 45 mya; Arabia collided with Eurasia, closing the Tethys ocean, around 35 million years ago.[6]

[edit] Climate

The Paleocene-Eocene Thermal Maximum of 55.8 mya was a significant global warming event. However, since the Azolla event of 49 mya, the Cenozoic Era has been a period of long-term cooling. After the tectonic creation of Drake Passage, when South America fully detached from Antarctica during the Oligocene, the climate cooled significantly due to the advent of the Antarctic Circumpolar Current which brought cool deep Antarctic water to the surface. The cooling trend continued in the Miocene, with relatively short warmer periods. When South America became attached to North America creating the Isthmus of Panama, the Arctic region cooled due to the strengthening of the Humboldt and Gulf Stream currents,[7] eventually leading to the glaciations of the Pleistocene ice age, the current interglacial of which is the Holocene epoch.

[edit] Life

During the Cenozoic, mammals diverged from a few small, simple, generalized forms into a diverse collection of terrestrial, marine, and flying animals, giving this period its other name, the Age of Mammals, despite the fact that birds still outnumbered mammals two to one. The Cenozoic is just as much the age of savannas, the age of co-dependent flowering plants and insects, and the age of birds. Grass also played a very important role in this era, shaping the evolution of the birds and mammals that fed on it. One group that diversified significantly in the Cenozoic as well were the snakes. Evolving in the Cenozoic, the variety of snakes increased tremendously, resulting in many colubrids, following the evolution of their current primary prey source, the rodents.
In the earlier part of the Cenozoic, the world was dominated by the gastornid birds, terrestrial crocodiles like Pristichampsus, and a handful of primitive large mammal groups like uintatheres, mesonychids, and pantodonts. But as the forests began to recede and the climate began to cool, other mammals took over. The cenozoic is full of mammals both strange and familiar, including chalicotheres, creodonts, whales, primates, entelodonts, saber-toothed cats, mastodons and mammoths, three-toed horses, giant rhinoceros like Indricotherium, and brontotheres.
